Why Parents of Teenagers Have Gray Hair

You preach to your teenagers over and over, "Wear your seatbelt." You hope they listen and put it on every time they get in a vehicle. Thank God our sixteen-year-old son, Chris, did. He was going around a curve on a blacktop road when his wheels dropped off and he went into the ditch. He gunned it to get out of the ditch and came up and across the road and over-corrected, flipping his 1988 Ranger which landed on its wheels in the middle of the road. As you can see from the pictures, the top of the cab on the driver's side hit the pavement with a lot of force and his window was open at the time. The State Trooper who wrote up the accident report said if he had not been wearing his seatbelt this would probably have been a fatality. I am so proud of Chris for wearing his seatbelt. He is sore and a bit shook up but nothing serious. Please, remind your loved ones to buckle up and you wear your seatbelt too. Chris made a simple choice to wear his and we have no doubt that he is here with us today because of it.

Good for Chris for being mature enough to do the right thing and "buckle up"!

I know exactly how it feels to roll one's Jeep as I did so early this Spring. Mine actually came to rest ON it's hood, IN the ditch. I was hanging, upside down by my seatbelt when it stopped. The windsheild and driver side window were shattered. I have no doubt that I wouldn't have walked away from that accident, had I not had my seatbelt on...

I'm glad that you still have your son!

Whew! My son is halfway to that age and I am working as hard as I can to get him trained NOW, hoping the lessons stick THEN. SO glad your son is okay!

Our son did the same at 16! and with the same happy story...he and his two companions were all wearing their seatbelts. One of them got a minor cut...that was all. 3 boys and 6 parents counted their blessings.
