Bandits

I caught these little bandits eating corn from this past fall's corn shock. We had left it on the edge of the woods for the chickens and birds to clean up but it looks like it has attracted interest from some others. They are both pretty little and look like the winter has been a bit hard on them so we left them to eat.

I know that they can be horrible pests, but the truth is: I love raccoons. I have raised two abandoned kits (several years apart) and they are incredibly smart, fun and affectionate. I am amazed that they were never domesticated because they tame quite easily and are at least as tame as most cats! VERY fun house pets!

OK ~ I admit: none have ever gotten any of my chickens and if they ever do, I will hunt them down and kill them. But, other than their taste for chicken, I think they are one of God's neatest creatures...

How kind of you to let them eat; I hate to see any creature suffer. We have some that raid our black oil sunflower feeder; I don't mind too much unless they break it, which they have a couple times.

Good for you, they do look like hungry little fellas, I would have left them to their meal too.
I've raised a few kits (bottle fed) and they are a delight to watch. They get into my outside cat food bowl, but I try to ignore it.
